My work has been featured recently in an interesting piece written by Robert Bolick titled “Bookmarking Book Art – On the Origin of Species“. This essay charts the influence that Darwin’s text has had on creative practitioners around the world (myself included).
I am currently showing two pieces of work at Trafford College‘s inaugural exhibition in CA1 Gallery. Curated by Mark Green (Art and Design Curriculum Leader) and Antony Clarkson (from PS Mirabel), the show houses works by a number of Creative Arts staff both past and present. Previewing on 23rd February (6-8pm) , the exhibition will run until 17th March (Monday to Friday 10am-4pm).

Really thrilled to announce that I have been asked to participate in “Handmade City“, an exhibition of paper products in Jeonju, South Korea. Open to the public from 20th – 28th February, the show will feature works from paper artists across the globe along with pieces by local creative practitioners. A number of venues within Jeonju Hanok Village will be taking part, including the Jeonju Craftworks Exhibition Hall (the Korean Traditional Culture Centre).
At the beginning of the year I began work on a collaborative project “Lexicon and Letters” with Los Angeles based artist Aimee Thieu. I started by creating three sets of dissected letters for Aimee (from my Betabet piece) and a few dissected sentences. Once completed, they were packaged and sent off to her so that she could begin the process of decoding and translating the forms.
Here are a few images to show the latest developments… Really looking forward to seeing where this goes!
You can keep up to date with her progress on Instagram.

The opening event/private view is due to take place on 21st February from 6-8pm. There will also be talks and a tour of the show (planned for the 26th February at 3pm). More information coming soon…

Robert Bolick has written a short piece about my practice for his Scoop It page “Bookmarking Book Art“.
