AWOL / Comme Ca 2024 Open Call Preview

A few pictures from the AWOL/Comme Ca Art Open 2024 preview. Had such a fantastic evening! Many great conversations with beautiful people amongst a gorgeous, eclectic selection of work. It must’ve been a huge challenge to narrow down the 200 odd entries to 22 artists!

The show is open to the public at Hope Mill from the 18th May and runs until Sat 22nd June 2024 (Opening times are Wednesday and Thursday 11-4pm & Sat 11-2pm). Plenty of time to catch it if you are about in the area! If you are new to the space, the gallery at Hope Mill is amazing too – great light with wonderful views of Ancoats and beyond. Highly recommend a visit!

Upcoming event: Tees Show

Exciting news to share… I have been invited to take part in Tees at Rogue Studios; an exhibition exploring the t-shirt as art form. Taking ‘Article 19’ as its point of reference, the show poses the question: “Protest / Self-expression, what is the difference?”. It will feature work by Sir Peter Blake, Jeremy Deller, David Shrigley, Bob and Roberta Smith and artists from Rogue, Paradise Works, Suite (my studios), Bankley, AWOL, Islington Mill and beyond.

The preview is due to take place on 30th September 2023 from 2-5pm (to coincide with an open studios event). You can catch the show until 31st October 2023 (opening times are between 12-4pm on Saturdays or by appointment.

The exhibition is curated by Mike Chavez-Dawson and assisted by; Jamie Kirk, Grecia Balassone, Vincent Patterson, Maggie Stick and John Paul Brown.

Preview of “Beyond the Linear”, Salford Art Gallery

What a fantastic turn out for the preview of my solo exhibition “Beyond the Linear” last night at Salford Art Gallery. It was wonderful to share the opening of my latest show with both familiar faces and new ones too! Special thanks to Luke Moore, Helen Milroy and Isabella Baker who took part in “Roll Play” (a unique couple of performances we devised especially for the event) and all who managed to make it over despite the bitterly cold weather and the pretty dire traffic / public transport situation.

If you haven’t managed to see it yet, there is plenty of time to visit as it will be running until 28th April 2019. For opening hours and more information please click here. There will also be an artist’s talk with a difference… stay tuned to find out more!

Body of Evidence Exhibition, Gauteng, South Africa

Almost time for the opening night of Ciara Struwig’s show “Body of Evidence” (due to open this Saturday, 9th April)! I am really proud to be a part of this fantastic project which saw Ciara collaborating with a variety of artists from around the world. The exhibition takes place in Gauteng and will run until 22nd April. More information regarding the project and other artists involved in the collaboration can be found on her site.

“Evidence Project” with Ciara Struwig

I am pleased to share the results of my involvement in the “Evidence Project” (initiated by South African artist Ciara Struwig).

Collaborating with both local and international artists, Struwig collects samples of by-products generated during the creative process. Through the collection of such materials she explores the dialogue between forensics and art.

You can view more images from this collaboration, find more information on her project and see the work of other contributing artists by visiting her site.
